PreonLab is successfully employed by Renault to validate and improve heat shield designs which guarantee that no flammable liquid gets in contact with hot parts of the engine. Testing on a real prototype is difficult since first the leakage itself has to be reproduced and secondly, hot liquids may be dangerous.
PreonLab’s highly efficient, meshless Preon solver enables Renault to test many design variants for different liquids and possible leakages on virtual prototypes within a day. The easy workflow and the possibility of automatization via the python library preonpy in combination with powerful post-processing and visualization capabilities helps Renault to gain insight and focus on engineering while spending minimal manual effort on the simulation tool.
